License Recovery

In April of 2017 “Annie’s Law” went into effect. The law increases the license suspension for first OVI offenders to one year.

Great News! Under the law, first offenders can have their 12-month license suspension reduced by half if they use an ignition interlock for at least six months.

Call 800-499-0994 NOW and talk to one of our Ohio Ignition Interlock Specialists who will take you through the process of getting back on the road quickly, safely and legally.

Steps to Obtaining a Restricted Driver’s License During Your Suspension:

  • You will need to obtain an Interlock License from the BMV.
  • Make an appointment to have your ignition interlock installed by calling toll-free 800-499-0994.
  • Guardian will verify your eligibility for an interlock with the BMV. Once your interlock is installed, Guardian will give you a certificate confirming the installation.
  • Obtain SR-22 proof of insurance
  • Pay fines and reinstatement fees in person at your local BMV office, by phone by calling 1-866-OPLATES (675-2837), or online at the Ohio BMV website
  • Retake and pass the driving knowledge and skills tests, if required.
  • Mail documents to Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Attn. RE Fee, P.O. Box 16520, Columbus OH 43216-6520. Mail required documents before your suspension ends to minimize delays.

Steps to Reinstate Your Driver’s License After Suspension:

  • Satisfy any court requirements/fines, if applicable.
  • Complete a remedial driving course, if required.
  • Retake and pass the driving knowledge and skills tests, if required.

  • Pay your reinstatement fees.
