Thanksgiving means different things to different people. Because most Americans live in modern cities or towns, we now spend Thanksgiving reflecting on the blessings in our life instead of the bounty of a good harvest.
Here’s a little history on Thanksgiving – although a successful bounty was the reason for the first Thanksgiving, and the origins of the holiday have been debated, most people believe it began 1621 in Plymouth or what’s now known as Massachusetts. A group of Pilgrims or Puritans gathered together to celebrate a successful year of harvest, and as time ticked on, the Pilgrims and Puritans carried the celebration to other parts of the United States where it progressed into a religious celebration in some areas. When George Washington proclaimed Thanksgiving a national celebration, November 26th, 1789 was marked as the first official Thanksgiving.
No matter what your reason for celebrating Thanksgiving this year, Guardian Interlock would like to take this opportunity to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and send best wishes for a happy and safe holiday.
